Local police suffer loses in a string of bombings

DAGESTAN, February 14, Caucasus Times – There have been three terror attacks against local police since February 11 in Makhachkala, Caucasus Times correspondent reports citing the Interior Ministry press service. A police officer died, several others were wounded in bombings in Makhachkala.

The first improvised bomb went off January 11 at 9 p. m. nearby a traffic police checkpoint. The bomb experts said the charge was at least 300 gm of high explosive. There were no casualties in the incident.

Two bombings came on February 13. Now, a bomb (roughly about 300-500 gm) exploded in the street of Ahmed Khan Sultan at midnight as the police patrol car was passing by. Fortunately, no one suffered injuries in the incident.

The same day, at about 9.10 p. m. (lt) unknown attackers set off an improvised bomb, which killed police sergeant Osmanov and injured his three colleagues.
Criminal case is opened, under investigation, the Interior Minister said.
