More than 360 thousand poultry died of bird flu in Dagestan

DAGESTAN, 2 March, Caucasus Times. Starting from 5 February when outburst of bird flu was registered in Dagestan, 363 thousand 312 poultry died of bird flu in this North Caucasus republic. According to press service of the Southern regional center of the Russian Ministry for Extraordinary Situatons, only during 1 March this year 481 poultry died in Dagestan.

First cases of mass bird flu epidemic on the territory of Dagestan have been registered in the local poultry farms “Edelma” and “Makhachkalinskaya”.

At present, 330 people in 21 districts of the republic are participating in various veterinary operations aimed at stopping further spread of bird flu in Dagestan. Cases of illnesses among the population have not been registered so far.
