Policemen wounded by a wanted criminal

INGUSHETIA, November 11, Caucasus Times – In the evening of November 10, a policeman was wounded by a suspect while the Karabulak district police conducted special operation in Ordzhonikidzevskaya village of Sunzhensky district in Ingushetia to detain a wanted criminal, Batyr Ozdoyev, who returned fire and eventually was killed on the spot by the police.

The incident occurred on the crossroads of Engels and Mozdokskaya streets in Ordzhonikidzevskaya village, when the task police team conducted a sweep in the area. Two policemen were wounded in a firefight with the criminal, the Interior Ministry said in an interview with the Caucasus Times correspondent. The injured policemen were delivered to a local hospital. It is said, one of the wounded policemen eventually died in the hospital due to the gunshot wounds.

Wanted by the police Batyr Ozdoyev, 28, a resident of Ordzhonikidzevskaya village in Ingushetia has been on the run since he had allegedly committed several serious crimes, including attempt on lives of the law-enforcement agents. Alikhan Gaparkhanov, an associate of the criminal who happened to be in his car at the moment of operation, was detained for questioning and now gives his testimonies in the district Prosecutor’s office, the Interior Ministry said.

Eventually, the detectives have found a pistol, several rounds, a gas pistol and three homemade grenades in the killed criminal’s car.

Criminal case is open, under investigation, the prosecutor’s office of Sunzhensky district said.
